Every hole at Glen Waverley Golf Course presents a unique challenge and an opportunity to refine your game. We are here to guide you through the first five holes of the course, providing insights and tips to help you navigate each one successfully!

HOLE 1 – 309m Par 4

The first hole is a gentle dogleg left to right which demands a fade off the tee. While our opening hole is not a long one, accuracy is paramount off the tee to ensure you have a shot into the green. The green is protected by bunkers on the front left and back right as well as a hazard on the right-hand side.

Professional tip off the first hole is to play safe and get your round underway smoothly.

HOLE 2 – 321m Par 4

Our second hole is quite a severe dogleg left which requires a tee shot of almost 200 metres to reach the widest part of the dogleg and set up a direct approach at the green. A bunker guards both the left and right of the green but there is plenty of room to run your approach up onto the green. The toughest chip on this hole is from over the back, so we recommend playing under the hole and leaving yourself an uphill putt.

Professional tip off the second hole is to play more aggressively off the tee and get as close to the green as possible. Longer hitters will be able to go over the corner and get really close to this green.

HOLE 3 – 134m Par 3

The third hole looks fairly simple from the tee but can be treacherous if playing from out of position. A difficult bunker short left and an elevated green with run-offs on the right-hand side and over the back make for some very difficult up and downs. The green complex is compiled of many subtle breaks, however, a constant back to front slope will dictate most putts.

Professional tip off the third tee is to aim for the middle of the green and you will rarely have further than a 20ft birdie putt.

HOLE 4 – 389m Par 4

The fourth hole is a longer par 4 with a slight dogleg off the tee, a two-tiered and elevated green with a deep bunker guarding the front left hand side. This encourages a slight draw off the tee but is generous enough to cater to all shot shapes. We recommend playing slightly up the right hand side to give yourself a better chance of missing the greenside bunker on the left.

Professional tip on the fourth hole is to hit it as far as you can off this tee to allow for a shorter shot into the well guarded green.

HOLE 5 – 390m Par 4

The fifth hole is arguably the most difficult hole on the course. While it isn't the longest, the very narrow shoot off the tee makes for a tough tee shot and then a sharp right to left dogleg guarded by tall trees ensures all approach shots are tricky. The narrow and angled green has a ridge running through the middle of it and is guarded by mounds long and left and a bunker on the right.

Professional tip on the fifth hole is to play as close to the right hand side of the fairway as possible to allow for an approach shot with less tree interference.
