Highlights from Glen Waverley: Junior Golf and Tennis Success

Highlights from Glen Waverley: Junior Golf and Tennis Success cover

It has been an action packed start to the year at Glen Waverley, with athletes taking over both the greens and the courts for some fantastic holiday competition and skill building.

On the Greens: School Holiday Golf Program

From January 14-16, we hosted our popular School Holiday Golf Program, led by PGA Coaches Ben Paine and Erica Quinton. We were joined by 12 junior golfers, aged 6 to 14, ranging from those picking up a club for the first time to our elite junior players.

The three day program focused on:

  • Fundamental skill development and technique refinement.
  • Course transition, helping players move confidently from the practice area onto the actual course.
  • Building confidence, with plenty of enthusiasm and visible improvement from every player.

On the Courts: O3K J125 Tournament

The Glen Waverley Sports Hub O3K J125 Tournament was held from Thursday 15th January to Sunday 18th January. The tournament was a great success with over 300 tennis players attending over the 4 days. Congratulations to Men’s Singles winner, Jackson Varney, Women’s Singles winner, Mia Kuribayashi and all of our other winners!

It was the first time we incorporated an Under 10 green ball series event into the week as well, which was another huge success!

Well done to all the competitors, officials, and families who made both events such a standout highlight on the tennis calendar!
