Player Spotlight

While most golfers spend July and August huddled around the heater waiting for the spring thaw, a select few are out on the fairways, playing through frosty mornings, soggy lies, and biting southerly winds. This month, we are shining a spotlight on one of our most dedicated regulars: the local club stalwart who never let the plunging temperatures ruin their tee time.

Meet Ezra

Ezra recently capped off an incredible "Fall" season in the US Kids Junior Golf Melbourne Tour, taking home 1st place in the 8-Year-Old Boys Order of Merit. His consistency across the season was nothing short of elite, boasting an impressive stat sheet across just eight starts:

  • 4 Wins
  • 1 Second-Place Finish
  • 2 Third-Place Finishes

An extremely motivated young man, Ezra is a constant fixture at the course, often spotted grinding out extra practice sessions right after school. With a clear goal of becoming the best professional golfer he can be, his relentless drive puts that dream firmly within reach.

Behind the Swing: Winter Progression

Coached by Glen Waverley Facility Manager Ben Paine, Ezra used the recent tournament off-season to take his mechanics to the next level.

"Ezra has made some major swing improvements over the last few months. An extended period of time with no tournaments allowed us to refine some areas of his swing we thought could improve. Ezra is completing a much more efficient turn into his trail side, which is allowing him to better maintain his posture throughout the swing and complete a transition we see as much more stable. This has resulted in his ball flight now holding its line much better."

We could not be prouder to have Ezra representing Glen Waverley. Keep an eye out for him on the practice green, and be sure to congratulate him on his Order of Merit title next time you see him!
